Plan to attendĀ Trent Valley Archives' first Home Movie Day!
They have teamed up with Catharine Parr Traill College and the Cultural Studies department at Trent University, who are graciously supporting this event. What is Home Movie Day? Home Movie Day is a day created by the Centre for Home Movies which celebrates family memories captured on film by amateur filmmakers.
Do you have a stack of film reels or VHS tapes in your basement? Bring your films to Bagnani Hall at Traill College and see them projected in real time. We are able to project 16MM, 8MM, and Super 8 film, as well as VHS tapes and DVDs. All of the films projected will be accompanied by a live narration from the filmmaker or owner of the film, so come prepared to explain what you've brought in. Even if you don't have films to bring, it promises to be an entertaining screening!
From 1-2 PM we will be collecting and inspecting films, with the screening and live narration to follow from 2-4 PM.
If you do bring in a film, you will be asked to sign a waiver in the instance that it gets damaged during projection. Keep in mind that we may place a time limit on some films, and may only be able to project one film per person, so choose wisely! We are not screening any films in advance of our Home Movie Day, so please be respectful of others who might attend when choosing which films you submit.
