Warnings
4:32 AM EST Wednesday 21 February 2018
Rainfall warning in effect for:
- Apsley - Woodview - Northern Peterborough County
- Fenelon Falls - Balsam Lake Park - Northern Kawartha Lakes
- Lindsay - Southern Kawartha Lakes
- Peterborough City - Lakefield - Southern Peterborough County
Rainfall, combined with melting snow, continues.
Major rainfall event will end this afternoon.
A further 5 to 10 mm of rain are likely before the rain ends with a cold front passage this afternoon.
Since very mild conditions are accompanying the rain, considerable snowmelt is occurring. As a result, localized flooding is likely in low-lying areas.
This wet, record mild spell is attributed to a series of low pressure systems moving along a warm front draped across the lower Great Lakes. Total rainfall amounts from Monday night though today will likely be in the 30 to 50 mm range for some areas.
If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
