Ontario Provincial Police say a 78-year-old man has died after being struck by a tree during ice storm cleanup near Peterborough.

Officers were called to a home in the Otonabee-South Monaghan Township on Monday for reports that someone had been hit by a tree, the OPP said in a news release on Tuesday.

The OPP said that according to a witness, the homeowner had asked for help clearing trees damaged from the ice storm.
