Special weather statement in effect for:
- Lindsay - Southern Kawartha Lakes
Snow impacting the morning commute.
An area of snow associated with a Texas Low pressure area tracking to the south of the Lower Great Lakes has arrived this morning as expected.
While total snowfall amounts from this system will be modest in the 4 to 8 cm range, brief bursts of heavier snow and occasional low visibility in the snow are resulting in poor winter driving conditions and quite the impact on the morning commute.
Motorists should allow much extra time to reach their destination.
Conditions are expected to improve after the snow ends later this morning or early this afternoon.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.

Special weather statement in effect for:
- Peterborough City - Lakefield - Southern Peterborough County
Snowfall of 5 to 15 cm today.
Snow is expected to begin this morning across much of Central and Eastern Ontario. General snowfall amounts of around 5 to 10 cm are likely, however areas close to Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River may see as much as 10 to 15 cm. The snow will taper off late in the afternoon or early evening.
This snowfall will likely have a significant impact on the afternoon commute. Motorists are urged to exercise caution.
The region is on the northwestern edge of a storm system that will mainly impact the American side of the border. At this point, it appears that amounts will remain below the warning criteria of 15 cm or more within 12 hours.
